The course is located on the shores of the North Sea in Ostend, Belgium and features an extensive sand section.
Favorites for the race include American Clara Honsinger, defending champion Ceylin Del Carmen Alvarado along wither her Dutch teammates Denise Betsema and Lucinda Brand. The Belgian team is led by Sanne Cant, and the Canadian team is led by Maghalie Rochette.
