The Tour of Flanders or what the Flemish call the Ronde van Vlaanderen is the biggest day in of the year in Belgian cycling, and perhaps in all of Belgium.

Omloop Het Nieuwsblad marks the start of the 2022 spring classics on Saturday, Feb. 26. Omloop Het Nieuwsblad is often referred to as the miniature Tour of Flanders because it features the Ronde’s much-loved finale over the Muur van Geraardsbergen into Ninove.

The Ardennes Classics get underway this Sunday, April 18th, with the return of Amstel Gold. The dramatic change to the route this year due to Covid-19 restrictions have further expanded the prospects for who will be crowned as the next champion. 

French cycling's Paris-Roubaix was rescheduled Thursday, with organisers citing its "mythical" status and the desire to stage the inaugural women's race as key to finding new dates as France hunkers down under a wave of Covid-19.

French Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu raised fresh doubt on Thursday over the staging of the Paris-Roubaix one-day classic on April 11.
