Belgium's Christmas series or Kerstperiode comes to a close this weekend with Cyclocross Gullegem and the penultimate round of the 2019 - 2020 DVV Trofee in Brussels.

The DVV Trofee returns on New Year's Day with GP Sven Nys. The course is a purpose built cyclocross facility at Sven Nys' training center in Baal, Belgium.

Belgium's Christmas series or Kerstperiode got underway last weekend with Waaslandcross and an epically wet and cold Namur World Cup. While some racers may still be licking their wounds from Namur, the Kerstperiode racing will resume on Thursday December 26th.

Belgium's Christmas series is the peak of the international cyclocross season. Many of the sport's most iconic courses are featured throughout these action-packed two weeks, and the top racers will be on top form.

Last weekend, US Cyclocross Nationals took place in Lakewood, Washington, and the racing did not disappoint. Fans went wild as Clara Honsinger took the Elite Women's National Championship win over 15-time champion Katie Compton. Meanwhile, 21-year-old Gage Hecht proved that he was ready to race the Elite race rather than the U23 field when he became the youngest National Champion in over a decade. 

Full coverage of the UCI Track World Cup in Brisbane airs this weekend. The stream will be available live on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening to viewers in Canada. 

Vlaamse Druivencross translates to Flemish grape-cross, the race being a celebration of grape cultivation which has shaped the region surrounding Overijse, Belgium. However, that name does not quite do the December cyclocross race justice. Its nickname however comes a bit closer - “the mother of all crosses”. 

The DVV series returns on Saturday for the Soudal Hotondcross in Ronse. Ronse is not the most epic course out there, but it has a history of producing fantastic racing. In 2017, Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert were locked in a race-long battle trading attack after attack with neither rider able to gain an upper hand. With two laps to go, Lars van der Haar took advantage of the stalemate between the two favorites to ride clear to victory.

With many riders opting out of this weekend's racing at Ethias Cross in Essen to focus on the Zonhoven Superprestige on Sunday or to focus on a training block before the next round of World Cups, the fields were quieter than normal without racers like Annemarie Worst or Mathieu Van der Poel.
