The first edition of the race dates back to 1945, immediately following the Second World War. While it has taken on many names over the years, it has always been the proverbial “Tour of Britain,” with Ovo Energy currently playing the role of title sponsor.
The 2018 edition of the race will include 8 stages spread out all across the British mainland, with the final stage seeing the racers take to a fast circuit on the streets of London.

Former winners include Lars Boom, Edvald Boasson-Hagen, and Stephen Cummings, with Boasson-Hagen set to return this year in search of a second Tour of Britain title, after finishing just 8 seconds shy of the victory in 2017.
Reigning Tour de France champion Geraint Thomas of Team Sky will compete in the race, alongside teammate Chris Froome.
