Since 2004, there has been a women’s race as part of the prestigious Tour of Flanders, and that tradition will continue April 6 when the world’s top cyclists head back to Belgium for the 2025 edition of the race.

It’s all part of a busy couple of weeks on Flanders Classics schedule that includes four one-day races in a span of 11 days.

The day at the Tour of Flanders will feature a pair of races – one for men, and one for women.

The Tour of Flanders - Women will get underway at 8:10 a.m. Eastern, and the first women are expected to cross the finish line at approximately 12:45 p.m. EDT.

The Tour of Flanders, known locally as the Ronde van Vlaanderen, was held for the first time in 1913 and will be celebrating its 109th edition in 2025, while the women’s race was added in 2004.

This year, the Tour of Flanders – Women, the 22nd edition of the race, will take the riders on a 168.8-kilometer journey that will begin and end in Oudenaarde in East Flanders, Belgium.

The women will face a handful of cobbled sectors and 12 challenging climbs.

The first women’s Tour of Flanders race was only 94 kilometers and won by Russia’s Zoulfia Zabirova.

Riders from the Netherlands have claimed a record eight of the 21 previous Tour of Flanders titles, while four riders overall (just one from the Netherlands) have won the race two times, including defending champion Elisa Longo Borghini of Italy.

Longo Borghini’s win last year denied Belgium’s Lotte Kopecky a third consecutive victory. Kopecky finished fifth.
