Mountain Bike World Championships Preview

Buckle up for the 2024 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Andorra, this August 28 to September 1.

One year on from the super-Worlds in Glasgow, Scotland, with Mathieu van der Poel and Tom Pidcock—the mountain bike riders sneak off to the land-locked country tucked in the Pyrenees between France and Spain.

Plenty Of Action On Tap

On tap, plenty of action through Sunday, with the women's and men's Olympic cross-country events crowning the week.

Wednesday, the organizers host the E-MTB Champs, both men and women, then the mixed Cross-country Team Relay. Thursday, the Juniors will start their racing with the Downhill Worlds. The next day, the Junior men and women will each race for cross-country gold.

Exciting Races Ahead

Also on Friday, the elites and Under 23 riders will race the short track events. Remember last year? Sam Gaze of New Zealand blasted to a gold medal and behind Tom Pidcock pushing through the narrowest of gaps in the last corner for bronze.

Saturday it's all about racing downhill, with both the men and women fighting for gold medals in the elite ranks. Women first, then the men in the late afternoon.

Who Will Be The 2024 Champions?

In 2023, we were treated to an epic battle. Pauline Ferrand-Prévot of France dominated. In the men's race, Mathieu van der Poel crashed early on, turning attention to Tom Pidcock. The Brit rode clear of Gaze and Nino Schurter for a solo gold medal.

Who's going to be battling for the world title on Sunday this year? It's a particular year, on the heels of the Olympics where Ferrand-Prévot and Pidcock both picked up gold medals.

Ferrand-Prévot now focuses only on the road with a new contract with Team Visma. Even if we don't have the cycling global superstars, like your Van der Poels, we expect the big mountain bike names—like a Puck Pieterse, Sam Gaze, and a Schurter swan song.

The racing will be live and on demand for FloBikes viewers in the US and Canada. All the action, packed into the Pyrenean Principality of Andorra—the 2024 Mountain Bike World Championships.
