Travis McCabe was among many riders involved in a nasty crash early on with a parked car. 

The peloton splintered in crosswinds. The race was full gas as the lead riders approached a railroad crossing. As the crossing arms began to lower, half of the lead group, including many pre-race favorites, slipped under. That group was eventually ejected from the race, despite some riders protesting and simply ignoring the race jury.
