Taylor Phinney (Cannondale-Drapac) had a strong start to the 2017 Tour de France. Phinney finished 12th overall in the stage one time trial, 17 seconds behind Geraint Thomas (Team Sky). Phinney made the break on stage two and out-sprinted the other three riders to collect the KOM points and became the first wearer of the polka dot jersey at this year's Tour de France.
