Stage 3 of the Tour de France made history, as Biniam Girmay of Eritrea became the first Black rider to win a stage at the Tour de France. He finished the longest stage of the tour in 5 hours, 26 minutes, 48 seconds.
Richard Carapaz of Ecuador is leading the General Classification - the first rider from his country to wear the yellow jersey - and Stage 4 could be a pivotal early moment for the GC competition. Meanwhile, Tadej Pogacar, the TDF betting favorite, relinquished the yellow jersey after he won it following Stage 2. The two-time winner of the TDF (2020 and 2021), and the runner-up the last two years, is in second place.
Stage 4 is the first mountain stage of the race and the last day the Tour will be in Italy.

Stage 4 of the Tour de France is 139.6 kilometers from Pinerolo to Valloire and will include several climbs.
“It’s not the short distances we’re worried about, it’s those big climbs,” Brown said. “And, of course, we have the final climb over the Col du Galibier after two massive climbs beforehand. Remember: We’re now in France after three days in Italy. Over the Galibier, 2,624 meters and then that treacherous descent down to Valloire.
