Biniam Girmay became the first-ever Black rider to win a stage at the Tour de France as he won the longest stage of the 2024 Tour de France on July 1 in Italy.
Girmay, hailing from Eritrea, is accustomed to making groundbreaking achievements. He made history at the 2022 Giro d'Italia by becoming the first Black cyclist to clinch a Grand Tour stage in Stage 10.

Who Is Tour de France Stage 3 Winner Biniam Girmay?
Girmay hails from Eritrea, a small country in Eastern Africa, and at 24 years old, this year's TDF is only his second stage win at a Grand Tour in his career.
Girmay was at the Tour de France 2023, finishing 125. He DNF'd the 2024 Giro d'Italia. However, he's had some success this year in classics. He placed second in Brussels Cycling Classic and seventh at Gent-Wevelgem.
