After almost a month of cycling across Europe, the 2023 Tour de France is nearing its final stages.
On July 20, cyclists will begin stage 18 for a 184.9 km, or 114.89-mile, route to Bourg-En-Bresse, France. Only four stages are left for the cyclists to give everything they’ve got to move up the standings.
Jonas Vingegaard first earned the yellow jersey in stage 6 and is still wearing it going into stage 18. Vingegaard is looking for his second consecutive Tour de France win.

His biggest challenger, Tadej Pogačar, follows behind him in the Tour de France general classification, with Vingegaard ahead by 7 minutes and 35 seconds.

The first of the two climbs of stage 18 is the Côte de Chambery-le-Haut, appearing 62.1 km into the route, closely followed by Côte de Boissieu. Both climbs are category 4, which is the lowest rated climb level.
The energy is likely to pick up after both climbs.
At 132.9 km or 82.58 miles, the cyclists will break into the final sprint toward the finish line. This stage is important for the sprinters to try and collect as many points as possible. The cyclists must consider how to allocate their energy to make it through the mountains and still have enough to charge to the finish line.
