Highlights: Tour de France Stage 13

The Tour de France cyclists are off to Morzine Les Portes du Soleil on July 15 for stage 14. 

Michal Kwiatkowski beat out all the classification leaders in stage 13. This is his first Tour de France stage win of 2023.

Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar have been toe-to-toe for the past two weeks. On stage 13 Pogacar showed Vingegaard that he can’t get too comfortable in his yellow jersey after beating him to the finish line with a four-second gap.

Stage 14 is a 151.8 km, or 94.3-mile route with a Col de Joux Plane finale. This will be the second consecutive Hors Catégorie climb the cyclists face since the Col du Grand Colombier in stage 13. 

Here is what you need to know for stage 14 Tour de France:

2023 Tour de France Stage 14 Route

Stage 14 of the Tour de France features four familiar climbs. The first to appear, Col de Saxel, will be the easiest as it’s classified as a category three climb. 

The challenging part of this stage is the back-to-back climbs featured in the last 65 kilometers of the route. The Col de Ramaz appears at 101.6 kilometers, 63.31 miles. It's appeared in the Tour de France route four times, the last pass was in 2016. 

Col de Joux Plane is the star of the show. The Hors Catégorie climb has been used 12 times in the Tour de France since 1978. The last King of the Mountain to rule over this summit was Jarlinson Pantano in 2016.

At 139.8 kilometers, or 86.86 miles into the route the cyclists will reach the crest of the summit. From there on, will need to give it their all towards the finish line.

    • Hors Categorie Bonus, 11.5 km, 7.14 miles at 8.4%
