After Stage 9, the cyclists will have a rest day and resume for stage 10 on Tuesday, July 11. There are only two rest days in the entire tour, the second will be after stage 15 on July 17.

Tour De France Stage 9 Route
The Tour de France stage 9 is a route of 184.4 km, or 115.6 miles. The pace is starting to pick up again with four climbs and a Hors Catégorie finale. The first climb, Côte Felletin, appears 74.8 km, or 46.5 miles in.
On Stage 9 of the Tour de France, climbers will be put to the test on the Puy de Dôme. This climb includes the steepest 5 km (3.1 miles) of the 2023 Tour de France with an 11.3% incline.
The Puy de Dôme is one of cycling's most legendary summits. It is 13.3 kilometers long and averages 7.7% incline. This is the first time the summit will be featured in a Tour de France route for the past 35 years. It’s the first mountain to be categorized as a “non-category” climb.
The Puy de Dôme is home to some of the Tour de France’s most historic race moments. Most famously in 1964 when Raymond Pouildor and Jaques Anquetil duel occurred on this summit. The two cyclists faced off side by side the entire way up the gruesome climb.
The mountain now serves mostly as a tourist attraction. Its roads remain closed and only open up for special occasions. The Tour de France 2023 is one of the few events that is special enough to re-open the route to be used for cycling.
