Belgian rider Dylan Teuns will be unable to defend his La Flèche Wallonne title this week as he is still suffering from flu, his team Israel-Premier Tech said on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old missed Sunday's Amstel Gold Race due to the illness and is still not well enough to contest Wednesday's classic.
"Unfortunately, Dylan has not recovered in time to line-up," said the team.
"A decision on whether he rides in Liege-Bastogne-Liege on Sunday will be made in the coming days."
Teuns won last year's edition riding for the Bahrain-Victorious team, beating the now retired five-time winner Alejandro Valverde.
Slovenia's two-time Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar will hope to succeed Teuns and add to his impressive wins this term in the Tour of Flanders and the Amstel.
