Jonas Vingegaard Leaves Rivals Trailing With Fresh Gran Camino Assault

Denmark's Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard notched up a second solo stage win in succession on the Gran Camino Tour in Galicia on Saturday, extending his overall lead in the four day race.
Willowy climber Vingegaard once again put the hammer down in a stubborn lone attack after a hilly run that took in some blustery Atlantic coast roads.
It was the 27-year-old's 29th career win and his second in three days of racing so far this season where he will attempt a third straight Tour de France win.
The route proved little problem for Vingegaard despite his modest size as he grew up in a remote Jutland fishing community, honing his cycling strength in frequently windy and rainy weather.
The chasing pack came home around 29sec off his pace with green jersey Egan Bernal of Ineos retaining second place overall 1min 13sec off the pace.
Vingegaard put down a marker for the new season on Friday taking the overall lead here with a hilltop stage two triumph.
Bernal's teammate Josh Tarling won Thursday's opening time-trial, finishing over two minutes faster than Vingegaard, but due to ferocious gale-force winds the times were neutralised.
Sunday's finale features two category 1 climbs and a summit finale 7km long at 8 percent incline.
